There’s a fine line between tenacity and stubbornness. After a period of time, if your idea doesn’t start to move on its own, with gravity, it may be time to move on. Yes, there are many historical examples of people who kept slogging their ideas forward and upward and eventually won. But we rarely discuss the many more failed ideas that were pushed stubbornly forward and upward and got nowhere.
If you’re a tenacious person, put a reasonable deadline on your dogged pursuit of a particular idea. If that idea doesn’t start moving on its own by the time the deadline passes, attach your passion to a different idea or direction.
It takes courage to admit failure and avoid stubbornness. Is it time to move on?
