Today I had the chance to catch up with Joseph Grenny, managing partner at VitalSmarts, on his way back from Califonia. Joseph and his three partners have written three New York Times bestselling books. Their next one, Change Anything: The New Science of Personal Success, is bound to join the others.
Change Anything grew from the ground-breaking work the authors did for their last book, Influencer: The Power to Change Anything, which examined the science behind successful organizational and systemic change. “We could see that people were hungry for personal change,” Grenny told me, “and we knew that the same six influence strategies employed personally worked. Like all of our books, we wanted to be the translator of sound academic research to personal or professional applications.”
Change Anything focuses on personal changes, not professional ones, because people are most invested in changing their weight, fitness, health, eating habits, smoking, relationships, friendships, etc. But the 6 vital behaviors described in the book can be applied to one’s professional life as well. According to Grenny, if you adopt the 6 vital behaviors, you will have a 10X more likely outcome of success.
Bio: Formerly, Grenny was cofounder and president of California Computer Corporation. And in 2007, he and his coauthors were named Ernst & Young Entrepreneurs of the Year for their work in founding and leading VitalSmarts, a leader in corporate training and organizational development.VitalSmarts has helped more than three hundred of the Fortune 500 realize significant results using a proven method for driving rapid, sustainable, and measurable change in behaviors. Named the 2008 Business of the Year by The Association of Learning Providers, VitalSmarts has also been ranked four times by Inc. magazine as one of the fastest growing companies in America and has taught two million people worldwide.
